  10. Pictured at Fremantle Station in Western Australia, the above train is about to depart to Perth. These units bear a family resemblance to the Class 701 Units (and cousins) in the UK, which isn’t really a surprise as they are manufactured by Bombadier and Downer Rail. The UK units are a Bombadier design!

  12. The “Indian Pacific” needs 2 x locomotives to get the 30+ vehicles forming the train over the Blue Mountains between Sydney and Adelaide. The piles of concrete are spare sleepers ready for track renewals!

  15. The XPT is a class of train which has heavy design influence and engineering taken from the British Rail HST from the mid 1970s. Most HST units in the UK have now been withdrawn, but quite a few Australian cousin XPT Units are still in service! This is the already 34 x min late 12:47 departure for Grafton!
