Paco Gorospe - Carabao painting
This image of a beautiful semi-abstract painting by the late Filipino painter, Paco Gorospe, was sent to me by a member of the Dequito family - and it is reproduced here with their very kind permission. The painting depicts carabao, (water buffalo,) their herders and some rural folk going about their daily life on a farm in the Philippines.
The following information was also supplied with the image:
QuoteEnticed by the quiet depiction of rural life so reflective of his past as a young herder of carabao in Manapla, Negros Occidental; Capt. Generoso Dequito purchased this Paco Gorospe painting from an art gallery in Ermita back in 1985 to hang in his study. Unaware of Paco's fame as an artist, the painting gathered dust for 24 years until his daughter discovered its true value and rescued it before it was thrown to oblivion.
This lovely art by Paco Gorospe now hangs in the most prominent area of their home - the main receiving area where it can be seen and admired by their visitors.
Capt. Dequito is now 66 years old and living in Davao City, Philippines.
