An amazing piece of sculpture. The face is so serene, a little bit sad - and startlingly life-like!

I find the decapitated head effect rather disturbing though - and kind of deep with powerful but unfathomable emotions...

Is this intentional?

(Sorry, I am not very familiar with sculpture but I thought these things always had a bit of shoulders to sit on?)
