Soft pastel on paper. This portrait painting of Nikki Gil was from a photograph by Ernie U. Sarmiento that appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer of November 6, 2005. The photograph accompanied an article, "Nikki Gil - This Nice Girl," by Ruel S, de Vera.
This one was my 5th attempt at this painting... I'm still not satisfied with it - even as a beginner... (In the first one, I was well satisfied with Nikki's face - but I managed to make her shoulder totally abnormal! The second, third and 4th ALL ended up in the bin.) I'll leave this one for a bit and try again some other time...

What’s going onto the Island?

One of the men at the door thought I was taking pictures of them, but I explained it was just the pub I wanted being the celebration it was!
