A beutiful view of Manila on a clear December evening. Photo taken from on board PR 732 MNL to BKK, shortly after take-off from Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The aircraft is to the North of Manila and, having made an almost 180 degree turn, it is heading West towards Bangkok. The two Runways at NAIA can be seen between Manila Bay, to the right of the photograph and Luguna Bay on the left.1 point -

From the album: The statues: Hogmoor Inclosure photos
A lonely, naked man standing on his perch in one of the few permanent ponds in the Hogmoor Inclosure. Most of the other ones - (the ponds, that is!) - seem to dry out when we get an extended dry spell; (which is not really surprising since the underlying soil is just about all sand and sandstone...) The wooden statues were, apparently, created by sculptor David Lloyd. More on this, here: https://www.princephilippark.co.uk/wb-story/public-art/1 point -

(My title!!) Photo of a Mike Herera painting that I saw in one of the art galleries in Ermita, Manila - sometime in February 2005 The painting is a watercolour and it was framed behind glass, so I do apologise for the reflection of the strip light in the gallery.© Mike Herera estate

The queue for taxis at the Arrivals area of Terminal 2, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, on New Year's Day, 2019 The photo only shows a very small part of the queue, which doubles back on itself. Based purely on past experience and the absolute paucity of taxis at the time, I would estimate the queue to have been about five or six hours long, at the time of this photo. Pink Tropical Water Lilies (or "Lotus," if you prefer!) These beautiful lilies grow in a ditch beside the road in Soi Sukjai, between Soi 40 and Soi 42 off the Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. Apparently, they were just thrown in there, years ago, by the owner of the house behind were they grow. Like most tropical water lilies, the flowers only open at night...1 point -

My Siberian Husky, Mei-mei is the unlikely new companion of my lovely pit bull-terrier, Shoubi. I couldn't stand seeing her couped-up in a tiny cage in a pet shop here in the Philippines. After three months away on work, I was dismayed to find that she was still in the same tiny cage in the same pet shop and I decided it was time for her to get out of there! After several months living in a cage that she could hardly turn around in, needless to say, Mei-mei is now making the most out of her new found freedom to run around and enjoy herself. (In fact, she can be a bit of a nuisance at times - but despite her neurotic habits, she is extremely loving and very lovable!) I couldn't help smiling at the way she found this little mound to rest on. The look on her face seems to be saying, "Look at me! I'm on top of a big mountain!!"?!!!1 point -

Jumong is just incredible! This shot of Jumong and Shoubi playing silly buggers, (as usual!) was taken just 18 hours after Jumong was stabbed in the kneck by a drug-crazed neighbor of mine. Not only is he already back to normal, eating like a horse, he's actually up and playing with Shoubi as if nothing had happened!1 point -

Shoubi, a really soppy Pit Bull Terrier bitch that I bought from one of my neighbors here in the Philippines. (I had been taking care of her for the previous year, in order to save her from being kept couped up in a tiny little cage... By the time her previous owners decided to sell her, I had already become quite attached to Shoubi and I couldn't stand the thought of her being bought by someone else and spending the rest of her life on a short piece of chain - or in another small cage...) Eddie Boy is the guy who looks after Shoubi for me when I am away and he often takes her for walks even when I am home. I think Shoubi loves Eddie more than me - but that's OK... Just as long as she is happy!1 point -

One of the guard dogs at the Madilosa family residence in Davao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines. (I sometimes stay with the madilosa family when I am in that part of the country.) Total "askal" (aso kalye - lit. "street dog") this one! Very nervous at first and took a long time before it really got used to me. I was eventually able to take it for short walks but it really didn't like being too far from familiar territory1 point -
