If you think you are having a bad day, take a look at this. It is one of those real "Oh Shit!" moments in history! A bit of a disaster, this one... The blue things were a couple of heavy-lift gantry cranes at a shipyard on the Huang-Pu river, near Shanghai, China。 They have both toppled down onto a large container ship under construction in a dry-dock - and knocked the ship off its blocks and right across to the side of the dock. This photo was taken about 5 or 6 weeks after the incident and dismantling of one of the heavy lift gantry cranes is already underway. What they will do with the ship, I have no idea. (It may be possible to float it and get it back into the middle of the dock, after the wreckage of the gantry cranes has been removed? It could also be a complete write-off and they may even end-up having to break the ship up too, salvage what bits they can and start building a new one?) Whatever. This is one Chinese shipbuilding disaster that is going to cost a LOT of money!! Photo taken from on board c.s. Wave Venture, on passage down the Huang-Pu between Shanghai and Wusong - September, 2008 The ship in the foreground is the Dapeng Star, a gas tanker under construction and the container ship in the dry-dock is the Xin Fei Zhou1 point

Condition: Excellent Length: 38 x 26 inches Painted: 1980s This is an Oil Painting by Paco Gorospe, showing the city buildings on the top, Middle class houses on the centre and slum area near bottom by the sea/river and signed by Paco Gorospe on the bottom right of the picture. My dad was a very good friend of Paco. Whenever my dad went to Manila, they would meet up and have drinks with afew more close friends. Year 1988/1989, my dad visited his shop to choose a painting, my dad chose this painting which was in Paco's office hidden from outsiders. Paco said it was his favourite collection was reluctant to give it up and showed other pieces to lure my dad away from that piece. As my dad has an eye for fine art, eventually he gave in as he knows my dad appreciates fine arts and gave it to my dad heavy-heartedly. Paco told my dad, "You are one hard guy to bargain!" FYI, his studio was set on fire 2 times before he died in Sep 2002. Sources said this piece of art would fetch around 200,000 pesos on year 2008. So any idea how much does it cost now??1 point

A bit of a rare sight, this one... Portland Harbour in Dorset, South of England - on a clear and flat calm evening! (It's usually been blowing a right old "hooly" whenever I have been there!) Poto taken from on board c.s. Wave Sentinel in June, 2005 Unfortunately, I never thought to keep the original high resolution image file of this photo, when I reduced it for uploading to one of the previous versions of ArtFreaks.com, so this particular image is not available in the Print Program on my portfolio at ArtWanted.com

A monstrous great FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Off-loading) vessel of the China National Offshore Oil Company; berthed in the shipyard at the Sembawang shipyard, Singapore - May 2008 "Hai Yang Shi You" translates as Pacific Ocean Oil. Shanghai is already one of the most modern cities in the world but new construction goes on apace. Pudong is the new part of the city; built on what was formerly a swampy waste land on the opposite side of the river to the old city. Photo taken from aboard c.s. Wave Mercury, on passage up the Huang Pu river one sunny day - some time in 20061 point

The first light of dawn, as seen from the cable ship c.s. Cable Retriever, working on a submarine telecoms cable repair near Nasugbu, in the province of Batangas, Philippines - April, 2008 Nice warm tropical weather, calm seas and a beautiful sunrise... If it was like this all the time, everyone would want a job working at sea!!1 point

Well... This might not look much but I can tell you... NO special effects, PhotoShop (Pro or otherwise) or whatever have been used here. The image may have been cropped - but that is about it! Anyway, I have been sailing the seven seas since 1974 and these are the first and only green clouds that I have ever seen... Photo taken somewhere in Cavite Province, Philippines - (I can't tell you exactly where - or my Demonio Ex-wife - or even my hayop Abugado - might find out where I live) - looking out over the South China Sea - some time in the rainy season of 2006
