The River Wey marks the County Boundary between Hampshire and West Sussex about 2 x miles South West of Haslemere in a village called Hammer (named after a long closed Iron works which used the power of the River to drive machinery). The actual River itself rises in Haslemere and eventually joins the other branch of the River Wey at Tilford before flowing into the River Thames at Weybridge more than 30 x miles away to the North East. The River is fast flowing and has been swollen slightly by a couple of days of heavy rain.

Shanghai is already one of the most modern cities in the world but new construction goes on apace. Pudong is the new part of the city; built on what was formerly a swampy waste land on the opposite side of the river to the old city. Photo taken from aboard c.s. Going up the Huang Pu river, the new city of Pudong is to your left and the old city os on your right. There is a very sharp bend coming up in the river. It is not a dead end! Shanghai is already one of the most modern cities in the world. Amongst all the new construction, the old buildings of the Bund have been well preserved. Photo taken from aboard c.s.
