  2. It is a long running joke in the lower leagues of British football that the only people who attend are a man with his dog! Here is a dog without his “Mam” watching Alton v Fleet Town! 4-1 to Alton!

  4. Unit 484 001 has the Signal (as shown by the “Off Indicator”) to depart with 2D23 18:00 Ryde Esplanade to Shanklin service on Island Line. A beautiful study of 484 001 in the low sunlight.

  5. Wight Ryder II arrives at Ryde Pier Head from Portsmouth Harbour, ready to go back with 23:10 sailing back from Ryde Pier Head. This is the last sailing of the day. The Covid pandemic affected public transport quite badly in the UK in 2020 and 2021 and mostly (but not all) it has returned to what it was in 2019, but it has been a slow process. In March 2023 Wightlink (the operator) restored a lot of its services lost during that terrible period for the world. The restoration of these services are VERY welcome!

  7. Badshot Lea are reduced to 10 x players in the 3rd minute of the local “Derby” match against Farnham Town in the Combined Counties League. The card has been shown for “Serious Foul Play” following an earlier tackle.

  8. The River Wey rises in the North at Alton and the South in Haslemere and combine in Tilford near Farnham before flowing into the River Thames at Weybridge. Here at Hammer Vale (about 2 x miles from source in Haslemere), the South Wey flows quite heavily swollen by recent heavy rainfall).

  10. Winchester is the “County Town” of Hampshire (even though it is actually a City). This is the City’s Cathedral with the rather unique green roof of the Guildhall also in view. The Guildhall has always reminded me of the Town Hall in the 1960s children’s TV programme, “Trumpton!”
