"If My People Pray" by JCrisanto Martinez Acrylic and mixed-media on Burlap 18" x 24" 2010 This is the flier for JCrisanto Martinez's 5th solo exhibition, entitled: "Unqualified Saints" The exhibition opens on July 03, 2010 and will run until July 16, 2010 at: Sigwada Art Gallery 1921 Oroquieta St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, Philippines. For inquiries please contact: (+63 2) 743 5873 or email: cil_pagaduan@yahoo.com (By the way... Why do Filipinos nearly always call an 'exhibition' an "exhibit...?!!" For info... an 'exhibit' refers to just one of the items on display at an exhibition of several or many items.)

    Hi!

You need to publish your latest blog entry! (Only admins and yourself can view it at the moment...)

  10. This thing had been sitting around in my living room, half finished for about nine months: Mindanao palayan - almost ready for planting rice I finally got around to finishing it a few days ago. 'Feels good to be back in the swing... I was almost starting to get really cheesed-off with the thing, as I frantically tried to get it finished the other day. But I managed to resist the temptation of over-doing it and ending-up with a complete mess. It's only a bit of crappy amateur art. And having taken 9 months over the thing, it is hard to say that I really enjoyed doing it. (Well, I always enjoy the actual time spent working on a painting but I couldn't get in the mood for art for months on end when I was supposed to be working on this one.) But, I have to say, I am pretty well satisfied with this painting now that it is done... I quite like the richness of the colors - especially the greens... And the half-finished work almost became a fixture in my living room for such a long time; I might even frame this and put it up on my wall!
  11. From the album: Some more recent pastel paintings

Soft pastels on rough watercolor paper. 21 1/2" x 14" (54cm x 36cn) From one of my own photos of some rice fields in Mindanao, taken just before the planting season. Started some time in 2009 (September, I think?) Finished in June 2010!! This painting could have been done in a couple of days. (I made a rough outline in pastel and went over this with a water wash in order to tone the background - so I had to wait a day for that to dry... Otherwise I could have finished this in a few hours...) It took me about 9 months!!! I dunno... I just couldn't seem to find the time for painting. And when I did have the time, I couldn't get in the mood. Anyway, I am glad it is finished now and I have already started the next one. (My next painting is erotic art and it doesn't meet the Guidelines for this site. So you will not see it here, even if I ever do get around to finishing the thing!!) 12. Nice work! It would be great if you could also make yourself an album and upload these to the Members Gallery. See this for a quick-start guide: http://www.artfreaks.com/forums/index.php?app=ccs&module=pages&section=pages&id=4 The advantages of making your own albums in the Forums > Gallery are that: 1) Users of the site get to see the intermediate images. (Particularly useful for those on very slow internet connections... The intermediate images display much quicker than the full images...) I am using Firefox 3.6.4 with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768px on my home PC - and the only way I can view your images in their entirety is by switching to the Mobile skin of the forums... (When using the default ArtFreaks skin and I click on the thumbnails, the images are too big for my computer screen and I can only see a part of the image at any one time. The Gallery automatically takes care of this by reducing the images to fit the users monitor screen...) 2) Members can comment on your images. 3) You can see how many times each image has been viewed. 4) You can insert the intermediate images into your blog. 5) Users can view your images as a slide-show. 6) Until another member uploads any images, the thumbnails for yours will display at the top of the index page to the forums. When anyone clicks on the thumbnails, it will take them to your image in the Gallery. 7) A few more, that I can't immediately think of right now!! For the full hi-res images, you can also use the Downloads module of the Forums. (Great for members who want to print-off a nice copy of your work, to display in their home or office!) The choice is yours. Happy posting and enjoy the site!
