A pastel painting of Philippine pop / rock star Barbie Almalbis on stage with her guitar. This was my second attempt at this painting. It was copied from an advertisement for Golds Gym that appeared in the Philippine Star of May 15, 2006. Barbie Almalbis is one of my favorite Filipina pop / rock stars. She looks great, she is a very intelligent girl and she is a highly accomplished musician! (She's also very fit - thanks apparently to Golds Gym!) The article was entitled "How Nikki mends her broken heart." (Apparently, Nikki says she sings better now, after her breakup with Gabriel Valenciano.) Mostly Rembrandt soft pastels, on Canson Mi-Teintes paper. This was copied from a photo that accompanied an article entitled "Beauty to Lani - Nothing to fear," that appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer of April 30, 2006 (Apparently, Filipina actress "Precious Lara Quigaman, Bong Revilla's new screen partner, has assured the senator-actor's wife Lani Mercado that there is nothing to fear...") I deliberately made her breasts somewhat over proportioned as I wanted to emphasize their beauty! It doesn't matter a damn if we come from nothing and go back to nothing... That's a really selfish way of looking at life. We come - we go. But life lives on! The important thing is that before we go, we leave life in a better state than we found it. And don't forget, every little thing we do has unfathomable "knock-on" effects. When we smile at a stranger, it might just put them in a good mood - then they make someone else's day, then... it goes on multiplying... (The reverse is also true, of course. So next time someone cuts you up in heavy traffic - try to at least put on a freindly grimmace!!)
