  1. From the album: The statues: Hogmoor Inclosure photos

I love the looking at the different colours and textures of the exposed sandstone alongside some of the old tank driver training circuits in the Hogmoor Inclosure nature reserve.
  2. From the album: The statues: Hogmoor Inclosure photos

A kaleidoscope of colour! An old sandstone embankment where, after years of Army tanks driving past on their training missions, a deep passage has been carved through some slightly elevated ground. I find the sheer variety of mosses and lichens that now cover these banks to be absolutely fascinating - especially when you look at them in close-up detail. The Hogmoor Enclosure nature reserve in Hampshire, South of England.

One of the old trackways in the Hogmoor Inclosure, which the British Army once used to train military tank drivers - now a local nature reserve. These trackways used to be gloriously full of deep, water-filled ruts and the sound of the mighty army tanks rumbling by. It's only a few short years since the Army pulled out of the Inclosure but all of the old tank driver training routes are rapidly returning to nature. All that remains of an old burnt-out car at the Hogmoor Inclosure. It's hard to imagine that these rusted remnants are all that's left of what was long ago someone's pride and joy. Years ago, when the Inclosure was used by the army as a tank driver training ground, it was quite common for old or stolen cars to meet their end in a ball of fire here. Thankfully, the inclosure has now been fenced-off. So there are no more noisy motorbikes careering around the place - and no more burning cars! The inclosure is now a nature reserve which is enjoyed by many walkers; their dogs; joggers and cyclists. 5. Work sucks but being out of a job or without work, (if you are self-employed,) sucks even more...

Well, in fairness, I have seen enough of his backside whilst sitting at my favourite "perfect spot" bench, up near the radio mast at the Southern end of the Hogmoor Inclosure... So here's a photo of his front end, just for a change of scene!! More information on the Hogmoor Inclosure can be found here: https://www.princephilippark.co.uk/community/spaces/hogmoor-inclosure/
  7. Please feel free to take eight years to respond - as long as you come back to artfreak.com some day. We miss you!

    Scars Left Behind

It's a very moving poem. I hope that things worked out OK for you and your two friends!
  10. Wow! I didn't realise that you can get premium quality soft pastels on Amazon.com...!! I like Amazon. I have only really ever bought books from them, in the past... I've never had a problem. Those books that I have bought from them have always been delivered on time - (or, very often, in advance of the estimated delivery date) - and in perfect condition. Also, as an affiliate, they have always been very good to me... Even when artfreaks.com had been suffering and referrals dropped to nothing from one month to the next, they never even hinted at terminating our agreement. So yes, I like Amazon! And I am very pleased to see that aside from the Schmingke Soft Pastels and the beautifully boxed sets of Sennelier Soft Pastels that I referred to in the previous post to this topic, I can even order my all-time favourite soft pastels from them... Unison Soft Pastels Unison is a true soft pastel. Very nice to work with. But what I like the most is the super vibrancy of some of their colours... Some of them even seem to have an almost fluorescent glow! The company that makes Unison Soft Pastels is a fairly small enterprise and it is based in the UK. If I remember correctly, I first came across their wonderful pastels in an art shop in the city of Bruges. I have also seen them in Victoria B.C., Canada so they do seem to be exporting them around the world. And, of course, you can always get hold of them at Amazon.com! You can check out the Unison Colour website here: https://www.unisoncolour.com/about-us/

Well... What can I say?!! This fellow's backside kind of stares you in the face when you sit on the "perfect spot" bench in the Hogmoor Inclosure, Whitehill, Hampshire in the South of England. This particular wooden statue - or sculpture, if you prefer - was photographed looking towards a dried-up pond in the vicinity of the radio mast at the Southern end of the Inclosure. As a friendly passer-by said to me whilst I was sitting on that bench enjoying the early summer's evening sunshine: "You've got the perfect spot there Mate!" And very nice it was too. The photo was taken in the vicinity of the radio mast at the Southern end of the Hogmoor Inclosure. 13. Catch 22, The Choir Boys and, of course, Lord of the Rings are three more of the unforgettable books that I have read in my life. All of these are due for a re-read when I get old and retired - and I have the time... (Or, before - if I ever master the art of speed reading!!)
  14. Hi Edwardo! When were you last on artfreaks.com?

It's time to pay us a visit!!

  15. The camerawoman behind the camera! artfreaks.com member Chai, is now a very busy camerawoman... She leads a rather hectic life and her work takes her all around the world. Chai was the camerawoman behind the Youtube clip below. This one is hot off the press from Hong Kong - and now, she tells me that she is already in Malaga!! Apparently, this is a Youtube show about the Fintech Finance Payments Race: ‘Round the World 2019. It's mostly what they call "corporate advertainment", apparently... Four contestants, each with the same budget have to make it around the world using only ONE payment method for everything; cash, card, mobile payment or cryptocurrencies. Chai is filming one of the contestants here, in Hong Kong - and the pair of them seem to have been having a wonderful time!!
  16. 2005!! Now that's a blast from the past! Back in the good old days when artfreaks.com was actually doing quite well... I have just been clearing out some old guff and a load of old spam from the forums - which was posted years ago when I was busy with my day job and I just didn't have the time to deal with it. This inane post should have gone the same way but I am a sentimental old fellow and I just couldn't bring myself to erase this little bit of internet history!!
  17. 'Any update on those courses? Please let me know if you are planning to run a workshop or art course for soft pastels? Thanks! And keep up the good work!!
  18. Come back, Mylap!! It's time to post an update on your Manila art workshops for kids!! How about some photos too?!
  19. If anyone is actually making any money out of selling their art - and especially if they are making a living at it, then I would love to hear from you! Personally, I just do it for fun. But, then again, it would be rather nice to get a little bit of beer money for all of my efforts!!
  20. It's good to see that your blogspot blog is still going. Interesting stuff! Don't forget to drop by here from time to time too. We miss you!!
  21. Ah, OK!! Thanks for that. ('Looks like a minor typo in the topic title, then...) I was just trying to get some activity going in the forums... Don't ask me why but for some reason, the image view counters and a whole lot of other stuff with the site will not update unless we get some activity by logged-in members in the forums? I have been told by the developers of the software on which the site runs, that I can set up some "cron jobs" on the server. Whatever that means?!! But that sort of stuff is all a bit over my head... I have also been busy in the forums deleting some old dead and spammy links. Apparently, Google doesn't like that sort of stuff. (It's probably one reason why artfreaks.com has all but disappeared off the radar...) I've got a lot of work to do there, as the site has been around for quite a while now and it accumulated a lot of junk in the past. We will get there in the end!
