  4. From the album: Some more recent pastel paintings

My first attempt at a portrait of a friend of mine's niece. I done this during leave from my job in April, 2013. Unfortunately, the weather was extremely hot in the Philippines and I was in a bit of a rush to try and get this finished. I will probably try to make a few very minor adjustments when I get back home but I don't want to try to hard with this, as I will only end-up completely ruining it... Anyway, it is included here as this album is a collection of all my recent work - good, bad or indifferent! Prints and gift items featuring this image are available on ArtWanted.com at: http://www.artwanted...62643&RID=23179 Download the original 3.65MB file in the ArtFreaks.com Downloads module at: http://www.artfreaks.../51-amanda-one/
  5. This painting is currently available for sale if anyone is interested.

  9. Thanks for all the birthday greetings! :) Internet is slow now as we are at sea now - and we are very busy getting ready for cablework. So my apologies if I can't reply individually to all messages right now.

  10. Brest in spring is nice... Back on board ship now. A bit more of Brest and and a lot less of the ship would be good! :)

    Different types of pastel

Although Rembrandts are generally classed as soft pastels - I'd put them at the very hard end of "soft." However, when you look at the extremely high standard of Jennifer Blenkinsopp's work, you can tell that they obviously work for her! Personally, I much prefer Schmingke and Senellier soft pastels. These are in a different class of softness - a bit like comparing glass with butter!!! I can't find either Schmingke of Senellier pastels in the Philippines, so I buy them every chance I get when I am abroad. Otherwise, I order these very soft pastels online, if I really have to...
