I thought the painting was already finished at this stage... Then I noticed that the window glass was just a bit too clean... (I wish I could get mine to look like that!!) -

The painting is three quarters finished here. It has already had it's final spraying with fixative and I will not be applying any more. I want the final layers, (which will be on the window frame, the wall and the flowers and vase,) to stand-out with bright colors that will bring them into the foreground. -

The finished painting. Not much changed from stage 003 - 'just added a few smears to the window glass. (Well, I thought 003 was already finished until I realized that I wished I could get my own windows that clean!) -
Two firsts!

The completion of my latest painting represents two 'firsts' for me! Firstly, having been struggling with issues of lack of inspiration, finding the time and actually being able to complete my previous painting, (started last year sometime) - this is my first complete painting of the year 2012 Secondly, this is my first ever painting that was not based on a photograph - and no photographic reference material was used - not even for the large (lily-like?) flower... The koi pond, right in the middle of that lovely, rough and very green cottage garden lawn was just my idea of a perfect view from my ideal kitchen window! Let me know what you think! My first ever painting that was not based on a photograph! This is a purely fictitious scene that I just concocted-up in my imagination. It is supposed to be a view through an old country cottage window, somewhere in the South of England on a warm, sunny morning. The garden pool has some koi swimming around in it and the bench is just waiting for me to take out my coffee and sit on it to watch the koi! Probably my biggest distraction when I am home on leave, is trying to run and keep up-to-date a dozen different membership websites. I am still very much on a 'learning curve' when it comes to the internet and the mechanics of making a website. Still, the rainy season is here now in the Philippines, so it's not quite so hot indoors... I'm hoping to be able to get a bit more done with my latest project this weekend!

The painting that almost ended my my enthusiasm for the hobby. It took so long to complete, I almost gave-up the whole idea of even trying to be an artist. Started some time in 2011 - and finished in May 2012!! A beautiful Filipina girl from the Pretty Po Kami facebook group page -
Having real problems with internet connectivity at the moment, despite having just paid through the noze for the best broadband available in my area...I love the Philippines but this is one of the down-sides of living here...
