Shawn Norring, Fred Logan and Richie Wilson

I was shocked to learn in the Maritime Press Clippings, http://www.maasmondmaritime.com/ of the untimely death of Shawn Norring, (the guy on the left, in the brown jacket...) Shawn was a well-liked and highly valued member of the team aboard c.s. Pacific Guardian in March/April 2007. This was his first venture away from the Canadian Coastguard. I remember well, the CANTAT 3 cable repair, in deep water just off the Grand Banks. This was the ship's second attempt at the same repair, having had to give-up and head for port due to horrendous weather conditions a few months earlier. Things weren't exactly a picnic in April but I do remember we had a great team on that job! Shawn was ever cheerful. He adapted very quickly to his new working environment and he was very much a part of the team on that ultimately very successful cable repair. Shawn will be remebered fondly by all who had the pleasure to sail with him during his short period of time with Global Marine Systems. -

Nice blog! The only (very minor) criticsm that I have is that the font, on my computer at least, is a little difficult to read. It might just be because my monitor is not so good... But there doesn't seem to be much contrast with the background and the letters have got little bits missing from them..? -

A real artist creates art for art's sake and/or because they enjoy the process, or they just find it therapeutic - not just to make a quick buck. So by extension, real artists ought to be prepared to work for free, (at least some of the time.) And, by further extension, they shouldn't be over concerned when their work gets pirated. More feathers to their caps! And if they can't make enough money selling their art, they can always go out and get a real job!
