  1. The Sun rises across the Mediterranean with the city of Benidorm just to left. The temperature has already started climbing and will peak at 36 x Degrees later in the day!

  2. The Sun has recently risen, and lights this Line 1 Service from Luceros Station in Alicante on the way to Benidorm where it will finish its journey in about and hour and 15 x minutes. The train is just approaching the Carrabiners stop on Playa Muchavista

  3. A short lived narrow gauge railway used to make its way across the Hogmoor Inclosure for military purposes. After closure and dismantling in the early years of the 20th Century, the route returned to nature, but is still clearly visible. Rowan Ash with berries, Oak and Scots Pine trees along with ferns and gorse now line the old route seen here looking towards the setting Sun.

  4. The former Army training ground of the Hogmoor Inclosure was given over to public open space in 2016. The traditional rugged English Heathland is seen here during the late evening.

  6. Hunslet Tank Engine Number 98 “Royal Engineer” has arrived from Wooton at Smallbrook Junction. It has now run round its train and is awaiting the Signal to draw forward and then shunt back to return and couple to its train in the platform. This is on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway! The weather looks nice, but the wind was unseasonably cold for July 2024 with several heavy rain showers rattling through during the day!

  7. The Hogmoor Inclosure is a beautiful area of heathland in Hampshire England which after years of military use, was given over to the local council in 2016. The Inclosure is the home to many protected species of animals and one of these are bats. This is the Hogmoor Bat Roost at Sunset on a beautiful late Summer’s evening. This location also appears in this gallery in a shot taken in 2020.

  8. This is the County boundary entering into West Sussex from Hampshire at Hammer. 3 x Counties meet in the locality but the actual boundary with the county of Surrey exists in the nearby forest to the North East. In the background of this shot, the incline to the railway bridge over the London to Portsmouth line can be seen.

  9. There are over 40 x Counties in England. Just outside Haslemere, 3 of those come together in the village of Hammer. This is a picture of the sign coming from West Sussex into Hampshire. For a short time, this area had a sign saying “Hammer Bottom” which people kept stealing because of the innuendo!

  10. A beautiful action shot of a Magpie caught on the Home CCTV of the author in Hampshire, England. Wonder if Alfred Hitchcock is interested! 😃

  11. One of the engineering marvels of the old Great Western Railway is Box Tunnel between Chippenham and Bath. At 3212 X Yards long, it was once the longest railway tunnel in the world and was designed by the famous engineer Brunel. Work started in 1836 and the tunnel opened in 1841.

  12. This is the old Farnham/Alton bound Platform at Ash Green (The Station is now a private house but this Platform is outside of the boundaries) looking towards Farnham. No passengers have used this Platform (Apart from an occasional Railtour) for 77 x years now (at the time of writing).

  13. Once a busy route between London Waterloo and Alton (via Guildford) closed in 1937. A faster more direct route from London to Alton (and beyond) via the rapidly expanding nearby military base of Aldershot in 1870 and reduced the importance of the route via Ash Green and Tongham. The route was truncated in the 1950s and closed completely in 1960. The route now forms part of the “Christmas Pie Trail” (named after a local village of that name)!

  14. Gwendoline is one of the cats that lives at the author’s house in the Philippines. She is about 5 x years old and despite the intensive glare is an actually a friendly girl and the most responsive of all the cats that live there.

    Rainbow

Some unseasonably cold and wet days in the UK has seen heavy rain showers and strong Sunshine. A recent rain shower has passed and the Sun pitching in from the West creates a beautiful Rainbow above Whitehill in Hampshire. If there is truth about the “Crock of Gold” at the end of the Rainbow, then it is in the “Great Wall” Chinese takeaway! 😆

    Rain has Passed.

Several heavy rain showers have affected North Hampshire and Whitehill. The rain has passed, but the clouds that brought some of them are now backlit by the setting Sun. This picture is taken from the Bordon and Whitehill Relief Road which follows the course of the old Railway that used to pass through the area.

  20. Cebu City is regarded as the second city of the Philippines after Manila. Still frenetic, but not quite like Manila and a great place to visit!

  21. Much of the PNR system (although not all) has closed down for 5 x years for major re-building and refurbishment. Tutoban Station is the main rail terminal in Manila and this is a view of the approach to the Station and the Depot outside.

    Cumulus Nimbus

The hottest day on record in Manila in April 2024 sees a huge thunderstorm building to the North of the city. Unfortunately it came to nothing and the city went on sweltering. This view from Bonifacio Garden City appears to show a flying saucer, but it is likely a reflection of a light from within the building where the picture was taken.
