  1. An MPV is used during the Autumn months on the UK rail system to keep the rails clean and prevent leaf contamination. DR98970 waits at Clapham Junction Platform 8 for the Signal to proceed on an October Sunday night.

  2. HMS Queen Elizabeth arrived back from a trip to the USA and sits alongside her dock in Portsmouth Harbour. In the meantime, Wightlink’s Wight Ryder II sets sail on the 16:15 sailing from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde.

  3. With the downs above Ventnor in the distance, Shanklin Station glows in the late Dusk. The Sun has gone, the temperature has dropped and the lights are on. A few passengers are waiting for the train back to Ryde Pier Head in the cold evening. Shanklin is the end of the line for trains on Island Line, but the railway once carried on another 5 x miles or so to Ventnor.

    Badshot Lea go 1 up v Shaftesbury Town in the FA Vase! Sadly, after the “Cup” match finished 1-1, Badshot Lea go on to lose 5-3 on penalties.

  9. The last ocean going paddle steamer, the PV Waverley spends it life providing pleasure cruises around the UK. Here she is in the calm waters of the Solent heading to Portsmouth Harbour ready for a cruise around the Isle of Wight. This picture was taken from aboard Wight Ryder I crossing to the Isle of Wight, and there is a bit of grime on the windows!

  10. Wight Ryder II arrives at Ryde Pier in calm waters on the 15:15 Wightlink sailing across the Solent from Portsmouth Harbour on a sunny September afternoon. It will now form the 15:45 sailing back.

    Floodlights and Sunshine

    Aldershot record a magnificent 5-1 victory over FC Halifax in the English Conference National. The game was on “Live” TV with BT Sport, and this probably explains whilst in bright Sunlight, the floodlights are on!

  13. Dusk is gathering at the Roman Gate entrance to the Hogmoor Inclosure with the setting Sun reflecting on the clouds.

  14. The last glimmers of daylight are fast going and are reflected on the rails of the Portsmouth Direct railway at Haslemere.

  15. One of the Flagships of the Royal Navy, HMS Queen Elizabeth sails West in the English Channel off the coast of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. The ship replaced its Sister HMS Prince of Wales on a trip to the USA for exercises, after a mechanical failure.

  16. The railway from Merstone to Ventnor was the first route to close on the Isle of Wight. The once quite scenic route last saw a train almost 70 x years to the day this picture was taken in September 2022. The pictures shows the Southern (Ventnor end) of St Lawrence Tunnel ( sometimes know as High Hat Tunnel) as it looks today.

  20. This picture was taken at 21:43 hrs and it is a night shot. This can be seen by looking at the illuminated neon signs of the “New Village Inn” on the left of the picture. This photo captures a bright flash of lightning which temporarily turns the night into day!

  23. The FGV is a light rail network radiating out of the Costa Blanca city of Alicante along the coast of Benidorm. El Campello is about 1/3 of the way between Alicante and Benidorm and is served by Line 1 and Line 3.
