'Looks like a bit of stormy weather at sea there, right? Wrong!! That was a winter storm, accompanied by a storm surge - whilst the ship was TIED-UP ALONGSIDE IN PORT!! You can't see the quayside (off to the left of the photo) - because it was completely underwater, having been been inundated by the storm surge... Lovely tropical sunset - partially obscurred by a rusty ship!

Sometimes ships work in sunset photos - and sometimes they don't! I did try to crop this one but when I removed the ship from the photo - whilst trying to maintain a sensible aspect ratio - I found I was losing some of that lovely glow of the sunset reflected in the water. c.s. Pacific Guardian braving atrocious weather in the North Atlantic. This was the big storm that "Pac-G" endured on her first attempt at repairing the CANTAT-3 submarine telecoms cable, off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland in January, 2007 I was not there, (fortunately!) - So I definitely was not the photographer. (If whoever took thi sphoto would like to post a comment or send me an e-mail, I would be glad to give the credit where it is due!)
