Ash Green Station - Waiting for the train that will never come!
Fuggletim posted a gallery image in Transport and aviation
This is the old Farnham/Alton bound Platform at Ash Green (The Station is now a private house but this Platform is outside of the boundaries) looking towards Farnham. No passengers have used this Platform (Apart from an occasional Railtour) for 77 x years now (at the time of writing).© Tim Penycate

Once a busy route between London Waterloo and Alton (via Guildford) closed in 1937. A faster more direct route from London to Alton (and beyond) via the rapidly expanding nearby military base of Aldershot in 1870 and reduced the importance of the route via Ash Green and Tongham. The route was truncated in the 1950s and closed completely in 1960. The route now forms part of the “Christmas Pie Trail” (named after a local village of that name)!

These tracks at Ascot Station in Berkshire used to connect through to the line from Guildford, but when the Station track layout was re-modelled in the 1960s, they became sidings for the berthing of trains on race days at the nearby Royal Ascot Racecourse. The sidings in turn fell out of use in the mid 1980s and nature is well and truly taking over some 35 x years later.
