From the album: Paco Gorospe Paintings
This image of a painting by the late Filipino artist, Paco Gorospe, was very kindly supplied by Lisa Arenberg, who writes:
"This original painting was given to me in 1985 by an American who lived in the Philippines in the late 1970's.; It measures 25 1/2 x 25 1/2 x 1 3/4 and is in a black and silver frame.; The painting is in perfect condition, on canvas with its original wooden frame backing.; There are even dots of his oil paint on the back where he must have had paint on his fingers while stretching the canvas. Paco Gorospe was born in Binondo Manila in 1939 and sadly passed away in 2003.; He was a self-made artist affiliatted with the "Ermita School".; His works have been exhibited at the Washington State Fair, the New York World Fair, and in Switzerland , Hong Kong, Japan, Germany, and Denmark. This painting may be inspired by his time with the Yakan tribe, the Bagobos or the Tausugs in Visayas and Mindanao.; He frequently painted the minorities he lived amongst and who he came to love. "
