  1. From the album: Drawings and sketches

Both of these were done as exercises back in 2005 when I was trying to get back into art after a thirty-year break. Both exercises came from a great book for beginners, called "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. And here's a link to her website: https://www.drawright.com/ Drawing number 1 was a pretty fair attempt at a self-portrait, I thought. (You will notice that I still had a little bit of hair around my ears and the back of my neck in those days!) Number 2, the "upside-down" drawing was a particular revelation for me! Basically, you had to turn the book upside-down, (thus confusing the right side of the brain,) and then copy the drawing just like that. Finally, having cheated the right side of your brain out of its tendency to make you draw things in its own stylized images and just copy what was in front of you, I was quite surprised by the results... Never mind... Betty Edwards can explain it a whole lot better than I can!

Purely from imagination. The feathers are well 'over the top.' It's a kind of self-portrait... Kind of how I would like to imagine myself as a native North American Indian with my very own style of feathery headdress... Loads and loads of feathers and colors all over the place!

  3. From the album: Other Work

Title says it all really. Another attempt at a more "Realistic" style.

  4. From the album: Some more recent pastel paintings

Purely from imagination. The feathers are well 'over the top.' It's a kind of self-portrait... Kind of how I would like to imagine myself as a native North American Indian with my very own style of feathery headdress... Loads and loads of feathers and colors all over the place! 5. From the album: Adobe Photoshop Art

I had been watching a lot of LOTR when I thought, for an idea for a self-portrait project, that it would be cool to make a composition with me holding the Ring. I just basically took one of the LOTR:FotR movie posters and put an image of myself in and blended it it. The background is some image of Mordor from Google Images. This was fun to make!
  6. From the album: Adobe Photoshop Art

This was another one I did for a school project. My objective was to create a self-portrait. I enjoy music and because of that interest, that is what I based my composition on. This was really quite easy and I could do a much better job on a different one.
